In the case of Marie Placide versus William D. Green, Jr., case number 2023-CA-0476, filed in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal in Louisiana on January 24, 2024, Mr. Green is appealing a district court judgment that dismissed his claims against Ms. Placide with prejudice. The lawsuit revolves around the tax sale of a property in New Orleans that was owned by Angelina Green and sold to Ms. Placide for delinquent taxes in 2018.

Represented by Jonah A. Freedman of Jonah Freedman Law, LLC, Ms. Placide is named as the appellee while Mr. Green, represented by Scott Joseph Sonnier, Attorney at Law, is the appellant seeking review of the district court's decision made on March 29, 2023. The property at the center of this dispute was sold to Ms. Placide due to unpaid ad valorem taxes from 2017 and she later filed a Petition for Monition to quiet the tax title.

Mr. Green contested this petition and subsequently had his claims dismissed by the district court which reasoned that he had no right or cause of action as he was not listed in the act of sale for the property and failed to allege any relative nullities under La. Rev. Stat. 47:2286.

The plaintiff seeks reversal and remandment of the district court's judgment which sustained exceptions of no cause or right of action filed by Ms. Placide and dismissed Mr. Green's claims with prejudice.
