In the United States District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana, a lawsuit has been filed by Jackhai Nguyen against the United States Government. The case is identified as 2:24-cv-01117-WBV-MBN and was filed on May 2, 2024.

The plaintiff, represented by Connie P. Trieu of Trieu Law, LLC, alleges that the defendant is liable for the loss of a tennis bracelet composed of 32 diamonds with a total weight of 11.8 carats, set in gold. The incident occurred while the bracelet was under the control of the defendant via the United States Postal Service. The plaintiff had used the services of the defendant to deliver the insured package to Ronal Jenson in Grand Prairie, Texas.

However, upon receipt by Jenson, it was discovered that the packaging had been unsealed and the tennis bracelet removed. Despite having insured the item to its maximum insurance limits, Nguyen claims that the government refuses to compensate him for his loss.

Nguyen seeks judgment against the U.S. Government for breaching their obligation under an insurance contract and negligence during handling which resulted in theft. He demands compensation up to the policy's maximum limit under Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA).
