More than 200 second- and third-year LSU law students participated in Apprenticeship Week at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, which was held on Jan. 6-10.
Each year before the start of the spring semester, Apprenticeship Week brings master lawyers and judges to the Law Center to teach upper-class students in small enrollment mini-courses. The courses aim to provide students with focused, task-oriented training that is not generally available in law school courses and usually only available through actual practice experience.
The 14 courses offered this year covered topics including Sports Law/NIL Experience, Legal Communication, Higher Education Law, Video Game Law, and Serving the Public and Profession, among others, with most of the courses led by LSU Law alumni. Participating students received one hour of credit, at no additional charge, for successfully completing a mini-course during Apprenticeship Week.
