Martin Davies has been awarded the prestigious Robert B. McKay Law Professor Award by the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section.
The honor recognizes law professors who have demonstrated a deep commitment to the advancement of justice, scholarship, and the legal profession through contributions to tort, trial practice, or insurance law. Given annually, the award places Davies among an esteemed group of legal scholars who have shaped the field and inspired future generations.

Davies, the Niels F. Johnsen Chair in Maritime Law and director of the Tulane Maritime Law Center, is widely regarded as a leading authority on admiralty law. His scholarly reach and professional impact are truly global—he has taught and lectured on four continents, and his expertise recently earned him a rare appointment as a panel arbitrator for the China Maritime Arbitration Commission.
His distinguished career spans decades of teaching, publishing, and consulting, including recognition with Tulane’s highest teaching honors and service on the editorial boards of major international legal journals.
