There are a few new faces on the Jefferson Parish School Board, where Simeon Dickerson bested two-term incumbent Cedric Floyd for the 5th District seat, according to an Advocate report.

St. Tammany Parish panhandling laws are being questioned by a Slidell resident who is asking a federal judge to declare parish ordinances unconstitutional in a lawsuit naming the parish government, Parish President Pat Brister and Sheriff Randy Smith.

Attorney general's office questions Dardenne attack on car allowance request

BATON ROUGE – Attorney General Jeff Landry’s office called Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardene’s recent attack on Landry “false,” after the governor’s office denied Landry’s alleged request for a car allowance and mileage reimbursements, accusing him of “double-dipping.”

ALEXANDRIA – The Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) Louisiana Division sued Natchitoches Mayor Lee Posey and the state on Aug. 4 for barring the organization from waiving the Confederate battle flags in a parade last year.
