Shanise Johnson is suing Alfredo Pinto Velasquez and Progressive Insurance over an accident that occurred April 28, 2009 in New Orleans.
Johnson claims she was injured when her Toyota Camry was struck by a truck driven by Velasquez who failed to yield and ran a stop sign, according to the suit filed April 22 in Orleans Parish District Court.
The impact caused Johnson's vehicle to hit a parked car, the suit claims.
Johnson claims she suffered injuries that include cervical strain, herniated disc, lumbar strain, chest contusion and muscle spasms.
Velasquez was cited for failure to yield after the accident, the suit claims.
Johnson is seeking more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, injuries to her body and nervous system, lost wages, loss of enjoyment of life, expert fees, interest, and court costs.
Metairie attorneys Joseph E. Windmeyer and Joseph E. Windmeyer, Jr. are representing Johnson.
Judge Madeline M. Landrieu is assigned to the case.
