New Orleans homeowner Janell Perry alleges a home contractor refused to finish remodeling her house on Chevy Chase Drive in breach of contract.
In a lawsuit filed against Jasper J. Cook and Premium Construction April 30 in Orleans Parish District Court, Perry claims she was forced to retain the services of a second contractor and pay more than $65,700 for the second contractor to finish the original contract and repair the substandard work that Cook had completed.
Perry is seeking the difference in what she paid and what her contract stated.
She claims the contract with Premium called for the remodeling project to cost $150,554.69.
According to the lawsuit, Perry made a total of four payments from Dec. 18, 2006 until Sept. 21, 2007, in the full amount of $112,100. When the last payment was made, the defendant refused to complete the contract, the suit claims.
Perry retained a second contractor and paid them an additional $65,700 to finish the work.
Metairie attorney Anthony L. Glorioso is representing Perry.
Judge Ethel S. Julien is assigned to the case.
