Passenger sues over injuries in street car collision

A passenger in a street car involved in an accident with another street car is suing over injuries.

According to a complaint filed May 12 in Orleans Parish District Court, Charlotte Watkins of New Orleans was heading south on South Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans when a street car in the process of turning onto the Jeanette Street line collided with the one she was riding in. The incident took place in June 2009.

Watkins is suing Transit Management of Southeast Louisiana, Harry R, Eves Jr., operator of the second street car, and Annette M. Johnson, operator of car she was riding in.

Eves and Johnson, employees of Transit Management, are accused of negligence for failing to keep proper lookouts and other allegations.

Watkins is seeking compensation in excess of $50,000 for injuries suffered in the accident including mental anguish, past, present and future pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost wages and legal fees and costs.

Attorney Christopher M. Hatcher of New Orleans will be representing Watkins.
