A patron is suing a hotel after allegedly slipping on a wet bathroom floor.
Michelle Cea filed suit against The Columns Hotel June 23 in federal court in New Orleans.
Cea says she was staying at the hotel in March. After taking a shower in her room, Cea says she slipped on the tile floor and fell to the ground. She claims she injured her head, arm, wrist and back.
The Columns Hotel is accused of negligence for failing to take steps to eliminate or mitigate the dangers posed by the wet tile floor including failing to have handrails and bathmats and failing to install an anti-skid surface on the bathtub or floor.
Cea is seeking damages for medical expenses, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of wages, loss of earning capacity, interest and court costs.
New Orleans attorneys Paul Sterbcow and Patrick Schepens of Lewis, Kullman, Sterbcow & Abramson are representing Cea. A jury trial is requested.
U.S. District Judge Stanwood R. Duval, Jr. is assigned to the case.
