Lawsuit filed over car wreck on Highway 16

Three Louisiana residents have filed a lawsuit against an Arkansas woman after she collided into their vehicle when attempting to pass other vehicles.

Karen Arnouville, Chris Arnouville and Felicia Ray filed suit against Annie H. Crowe and Shleter Mutual Insurance on April 11 in federal court in New Orleans.

The accident occurred on April 13, 2010 as Chris Arnouville was operating his car on Highway 16 in Tangipahoa Parish with Karen Arnouville and Felicia Ray riding as passengers. Arnouville slowed to make a left hand turn when defendant Annie H. Crowe attempted to pass vehicles against traffic, in the wrong lane, and collided with Arnouville's vehicle.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to maintain proper control of the vehicle, failing to follow the rules of the road, failing to yield and stop, traveling in the wrong lane of traffic, illegal passing, traveling against traffic, acting in a careless and negligent manner and failing to follow state, local and federal safety regulations.

The lawsuit is seeking damages for mental pain and anguish, physical pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of wages, disability, loss of consortium, court costs and interest.

The plaintiffs are represented by Gretna attorney James E. Shields Jr. A jury trial is requested.
