A lawsuit filed against Allstate Insurance claims that the company has failed to pay the full policy amount on a home damaged by wind during Hurricane Katrina.

Chalmette attorneys Sidney Torres III, Roberta Burns and David Jarrell filed a suit on behalf of St. Bernard resident Carolyn Jones on May 24.

The suit claims that the "defendant has failed ot tender the total amounts due under" Jones' policy.

Jones' home "sustained substantial wind damage, which allowed rain to enter the insured structures causing damage to the contents of the insured structures," the suit claims.

The suit claims the plaintiff is entitled to collect all amounts due to them under the terms and conditions of the policy, legal interest from the original date of judicial demand and any other general or equitable relief.

The suit states that the plaintiff is seeking an amount less than $75,000.

Orleans Parish Judge Piper Griffin is overseeing this case.
