A crewmember on a fishing vessel has filed a lawsuit against his employer after he slipped and suffered a herniated disk.
Claiming the injury is disabling, Robert Washington filed suit against Omega Protein on July 12 in federal court in New Orleans.
The accident occurred on July 18, 2010 as Robert Washington was working on the FV Rocan Point, a fishing vessel owned by the defendant. He states he was injured when he slipped and fell while removing fish from a net.
The plaintiff is seeking damages for lost wages, impaired earning capacity, lost income, medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, maintenance and cure, emotional distress, interest and court costs.
Washington is represented by New Orleans attorney John L. Young.
U.S. District Judge Ivan L. R. Lemelle is assigned to the case.
