After injuring his back, a Jefferson Parish resident is suing his employer for not properly training him on how to lift heavy objects.
Daward Jones filed suit against E S & H Inc. and Ashland Services on Aug. 2 in federal court in New Orleans.
Jones states he severely injured his low back while attempting to lift an excessively heavy oil saturated boom and place it on the deck of the vessel.
The defendant is accused of failing to provide a reasonably safe place to work, failing to provide a reasonably safe means to perform the activities Jones was performing and for failing to properly train and supervise its employees.
The plaintiff is seeking damages for physical and mental pain and suffering, loss of wage earning capacity, lost wages, loss of enjoyment of life, disfigurement, maintenance and cure, physical disability, interest and court costs.
