After suffering injuries when a gangway platform collapsed, a marine inspector has filed a lawsuit claiming he was injured due to careless, untrained and unskilled employees.
Robert Creel filed suit against Admirar Vista Shipping, Britannia Steam Ship Insurance Association Ltd. and M/V Admirar Vista on Oct. 6 in federal court in New Orleans.
The alleged incident occurred on Oct. 11 as Robert Creel was working as a marine inspector/surveyor aboard the M/V Admirar Vista. He states he sustained severe injuries when a platform on the gangway collapsed.
The defendants are accused of negligence for failing to provide a safe place to work, failing to warn Creel of the dangerous and unsafe conditions of the vessel, failing to exercise reasonable care in discovering and correcting any and all unsafe conditions, failing to provide the proper equipment or personnel to accomplish the job in a reasonably safe manner, failing to provide competent and adequate supervisory authority, hiring untrained and unskilled employees, retaining employees found to be careless or unskilled and failing to properly man the vessel.
The plaintiff is seeking damages for medical expenses, pains, mental anguish, disability, interest, attorney's fees and court costs.

U.S. District Judge Martin L.C. Feldman is assigned to the case.
