GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a company who raised her home after she fell on the steps following the job.
Bernadine Day filed suit on May 1 against Clesi Foundation, LLC and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court.
Day claims that when Clesi raised her home at 3809 Liro Lane in Harvey on April 23, 2010 workers improperly constructed the width of the front steps, which resulted in her falling on the stairs and hitting her back on June 30, 2011.
The plaintiff alleges Jefferson Parish Code Enforcement had said previously the steps were improperly constructed and would need to be redone. Clesi allegedly knew about the condition of the steps, the suit says.
The defendant is accused of failing to correctly measure and provide front steps at the plaintiff's home, failing to warn of the unsafe condition, permitting an unsafe condition to exist and improperly building and installing the steps.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering and medical expenses.
Day is being represented by attorney Steven M. Koenig of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison, Jr.
