GRETNA – A St. John the Baptist Parish woman is suing a Harahan hospital for injuries she claims she received on their premises.
Paula Saverin filed suit in the 24th Judicial District Court against Universal Health Services and River Oaks Hospital on May 21.
Saverin claims she was taking part in a class at the River Oaks Hospital at 1525 River Oaks Road in Harahan on Nov. 10, 2004 when she slipped and fell on a foreign substance. The plaintiff alleges she suffered disabling injuries to her body and mind due to the incident.
The defendant is accused of allowing a hazardous condition to exist on its premises, failing to warn of a dangerous condition and failing to maintain a safe area.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, emotional distress, inconvenience, mental anguish, permanent disability and psychic trauma.
Saverin is represented by Kenner-based attorney Michael J. Hand.
The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen S. Kovach.
