Wal-Mart sued by woman in slip and fall

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman is suing an international retailer claiming she was injured in a fall on the premises.

Leslie Lagania filed suit against Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in the New Orleans Civil District Court on June 18.

Lagania claims that while shopping at the Wal-Mart located at 4001 Behrman Highway in New Orleans she slipped and fell in a puddle of clear, slippery liquid. The plaintiff alleges she sustained severe and disabling injuries to her body including to her head, neck, arm, shoulder, back, hip, buttock, legs, knee, thigh, foot and body.

The defendant is accused of failing to keep the floors clear of hazard, failing to inspect premises to prevent harm, creating a dangerous or hazardous condition, failing to warn customers of danger and failing to take preventative measures to guard against dangers.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, lost wages, physical impairment and loss of enjoyment of life.

Lagania is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Marie A. Bookman.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Michael G. Bagneris.
