Cristian P. Silva

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman is suing a local grocery store for injuries she claims to have received on their premises.

Maria Francia Lazzari Huete filed suit against Rouse's Enterprises LLC and their insurer in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 5.

Huete claims she was shopping at the Rouse's located at 4001 General DeGaulle Blvd. when her shopping cart wheel got caught in a crack in the floor and she fell. The plaintiff alleges she injured her right arm, shoulder, forearm, hand and wrist in the fall.

The defendant is accused of knowing of the defect in the floor and failing to correct it, failing to warn patrons of the hazard and failing to maintain adequate groundwork on the tiling to prevent the incident.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical costs, injuries, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress and loss of enjoyment of life.

Huete is represented by attorney Cristian P. Silva of Harvey.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.

Case no. 2012-06543
