NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans cable provider is suing a city agency for property damage.
Cox Communications Louisiana, LLC filed suit against the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 6. Cox claims employees of the defendant were doing work in and around the area of 622 N. Rampart St. when they caused extensive damage to Cox's property. The plaintiff alleges the defendants damaged underground cables owned by Cox.
The defendant is accused of ignoring properly marked underground lines, failing to confirm the location of the lines, failing to see what should have been seen, digging in the incorrect location and damaging the plaintiff's equipment.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for loss of service, loss of revenue, cost of repair, cost of replacement, cost of labor, cost to retain and employ subcontractors, loss of customer satisfaction and business and inconvenience.
Cox is represented by Metairie-based attorney Caroline L. Stewart.
The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
Case no. 2012-06610.
