GRETNA – A New Orleans woman is suing a Metairie shopping mall over injuries she claims to have received on their premises.
Rebecca Yarber filed suit against Lakeside Shopping Center in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 11.
Yarber claims she was employed at McDonald's in the mall's food court and when she was returning from the restroom she slipped on a wet slippery substance and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges that she received a severe personal injury to her left knee that required two subsequent surgeries.
The defendant is accused of failing to warn invitees of hazards, failing to keep the food court clean, failing to provide a safe environment for workers, failing to properly inspect the food court, failing to maintain its property and should have known of the wet floor.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental pain and anguish, medical expenses and lost wages.
Yarber is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Sean P. Early.
The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Hans J. Liljeburg.
Case no. 716-918.
