NEW ORLEANS – A Mardi Gras Krewe has been sued by tractor driver who was allegedly injured during parade.
Edmond Freeman filed suit against Knights of Sparta, Spartan Society, LTD and their insurers in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 27.
Freeman claims he was driving a tractor for on the defendant's Mardi Gras floats on February 11 when suddenly and unexpectedly a wooden frame fell on his shoulder. The plaintiff alleges the impact of the hit resulted in him being injured.
The defendant is accused of filing to inspect and properly maintain the tractor.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, emotional and mental anguish and medical expenses.
Freeman is represented by Metairie-based attorney John W. Redmann, LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
