Woman sues Rouse's claiming injury after slipping in juice on floor

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman has sued a local grocery store after claiming she was injured on their premises.

Janice Pellerin filed suit against Rouse's Enterprises, LLC in the 24th Judicial District on July 17. Pellerin claims she was shopping at the Rouse's on Clearview Drive in Metairie with her six-year-old granddaughter when she slipped and fell in red liquid in the juice aisle. The plaintiff alleges she received severe injuries in the fall to her knees, ankles, shoulders, hip, neck, back and spine.

The defendant is accused of allowing an unreasonably dangerous condition to exist on the premises, failing to warn of danger, failing to maintain appropriate policies and safeguards and creating an unreasonably dangerous condition.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, lost wages, permanent disability and embarrassment.

Pellerin is represented by Mark W. Smith of the New Orleans-based Law Offices of Mark W. Smith, APLC.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Hans J. Liljeberg.
