Marine company accuses man of stealing over 12,000 gallons of fuel

Georges M. Legrand

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man is being sued for allegedly stealing fuel from a marine business.

B&J Martin filed suit against Allen Gaudet, Jr. in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 18.

B&J Martin claims that Gaudet boarded their vessel M/V Dusty Dawn solely to steal fuel. The plaintiff is alleged to have transferred diesel fuel via pumps and hoses into his own vessel M/V Island Ace while moored off of Grand Isle. B&J Martin asserts Gaudet stole between 12,000 and 15,000 gallons of fuel through this method.

The defendant is accused of felony theft of diesel fuel, misappropriation of plaintiff's property, fraudulent conduct and unauthorized entry.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for trespass, conversion, fraud, damages for theft, distress and mental anguish, prejudgement interest and attorney's fees.

B&J Martin is represented by Georges M. LeGrand of New Orleans-based Mouledoux, Bland, LeGrand and Brackett.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Hans J. Liljeberg.

Case no. 717-155.
