Wal-Mart sued in alleged yogurt induced slip and fall

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a discount retailer for injuries she claims to have received on its premises.

Karen Appenzeller filed suit against Wal-Mart Louisiana, LLC in the 24th Judicial District on July 23. Appenzeller claims she was shopping at the Wal-Mart located at 300 W. Esplanade Ave in Kenner when she allegedly slipped and fell on yogurt that had spilled on the floor in the dairy department. The plaintiff claims she received bodily injuries in the fall.

The defendant is accused of failing to warn of danger, failing to keep the premises properly maintained, creating a trap, improper maintenance, improper clean-up procedures, failing to supervise employees in maintaining an area frequented by customers and not knowing of the danger.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, emotional and mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and loss of enjoyment of life.

Appenzeller is represented by John W. Redmann of the Metairie-based Law Office of John W. Redmann, LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robert A. Pitre, Jr.
