Entergy sues Sewerage and Water board for property damage

NEW ORLEANS – A local energy company has sued a city department for allegedly damaging its property during a work project.

Entergy New Orleans filed suit against the New Orleans Water and Sewerage Board in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 19. Entergy claims employees of the Water and Sewerage Board dammed its facilities located at 5731 Foxcroft and Winchester in New Orleans on July 21, 2011. The plaintiff alleges the defendant caused the company to incur $915.04 in repair damages.

The defendant is accused of negligent destruction of property belonging to plaintiff, failing to inspect the work area, failing to contact plaintiff to ascertain location of facilities prior to beginning a work project and failing to maintain proper control of its constriction equipment.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for repair to its facilities.

Entergy is represented by in-house counsel W. Scott Brown.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
