Hooters sued in slip-and-fall case

BATON ROUGE – A Baton Rouge woman is suing a restaurant franchise after claiming she was injured in a fall on their premises.

Marsha Clanton filed suit against Hooters of Louisiana LLC in the 19th Judicial Court on Aug. 1.

Clanton claims she was a customer at the Hooters located at 6454 Siegen Lane when she fell to the floor in a puddle of liquid upon entering the building on Aug. 1, 2011.

The defendant is accused of failing to avoid accidents of this type, failing to warn patrons of dangerous condition and failing to take reasonable measures to remedy the condition.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical treatment, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish pain, loss of enjoyment of life and potential for permanent disability.

Clanton is represented by Mark G. Simmons of Simmons Law Firm LLC of Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Kay Bates.
