GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a property owner for injuries she claims she received in a fall in a parking lot of one of its buildings.
Louse Watermeier filed suit against United Fire and Casualty Insurance Company and Select Properties, Ltd. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 3. Watermeier claims she was walking in the parking lot of Medical Plaza I & II Building located at 3901 Houma Blvd. in Metairie when she tripped on broken conrete and fell to the ground. The plaintiff alleges she was severely injured in the fall.
The defendant is accused of maintaining a defective premises, failing to keep the parking lot in a safe condition, failing to repair the hole, failing to perform regular safety checks, failing to see what the condition of the parking lot was, failing to warn the plaintiff of the parking lot's defects, failing to exercise due care and caution for the safety of others, failing to do anything to avoid the accident and violating state statutes.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering and mental anguish and distress.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen J. Windhorst.
