Gym member sues UNO for alleged fall on premises

Brian King

NEW ORLEANS - An Orleans Parish resident is suing UNO alleging he tripped and fell on the premises of the Recreation and Fitness Center.

Darryl P. Leduff filed suit against The University of New Orleans and the board of supervisors for the University of Louisiana System in the Orleans Parish Central District court on Aug. 2.

Leduff claims that while walking through the defendant's exercise facility he tripped and fell over a power cord causing him to sustain injuries including a broken wrist and sprained arm and shoulders. The plaintiff alleges that the power cord blended in with surroundings and was obscured.

The defendant is accused of failing to appropriately place the power cord, failing to warn patrons of the cord and failing to ensure there were no safety hazards in facility.

An unspecified amount sought for all damages including, but not limited to, mental and physical pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of earnings and permanent bodily disablement.

Leduff is represented by Attorney Brian King of New Orleans-based Womac Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.

Case no. 12-07253.
