GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a Harahan retail store for injuries she claims she received in a fall on its premises.
Deborah Walker filed suit against Walmart Stores, Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 13. Walker claims she was a customer at the Wal-mart located on Jeferson Highway in Harahan when she stepped on a clear liquid in the clothing department and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges she suffered severe injuries to her head, back, neck, spine and extremities in the fall.
The defendant is accused of placing or allowing a clear liquid to be placed on the floor, failing to warn of the hazard and failing to maintain a proper clean-up.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, emotional distress, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of wages, embarrassment, humiliation and disability.
Walker is represented by attorney Mark W. Smith of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Hans J. Liljeberg.
Case no. 718-153.
