Man who lost two front teeth suing dentist who allegedly caused more damage

GRETNA – A Harahan man is suing a Metairie dentist for inures he claims were subsequent to dental treatments he received.

Christian Eric Bethancourt filed suit against Clayton J. Charbonnet, Jr., D.D.S. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 16.

Bethancourt claims at the age of 11 he lost his two front teeth in a bicycle accident and has had to have significant dental work done since then. The plaintiff alleges that he received orthodontic work from the defendant over the course of four years in order to implant permanent false teeth.

Bethancourt asserts that after Charbonnet released him from his care he neglected to reveal that significant root absorption had occurred in Bethancourt's mouth and that he needed to see another dental professional to correct the problem.

The plaintiff alleges that a seven point bridge installed by the defendant led to damages that otherwise would have possibly not occurred. Bethancourt asserts that due to the defendant's actions he has received severe injuries including root resorption, injury to multiple teeth, roots and bone and loss of implants.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for damages of mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering and future economic losses.

Bethancourt is representing himself in the case.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.

Case no. 718-298.
