Ascension Parish man claims mesothelioma in Orleans Parish suit

NEW ORLEANS - An Ascension Parish man is suing several companies claiming his exposure to asbestos caused him to develop malignant mesothelioma.

Edward Leblanc filed a lawsuit against BorgWarner Morse Tec. Inc., Bourg's Auto Repairs Inc., CSR Limited, Dana Companies, Ford Motor Co., Genuine Parts Co., Honeywell International, Inc., MeadWestvaco Corp., Mid-City Motors, Inc., Parker-Hannifin Corp., PneumoAbex LLC, Precision Brake & Clutch, Inc., Robinson Brothers Ford Lincoln, LLC and Union Carbide in Orleans Parish Central District Court on Aug. 3.

The defendants are accused of failure to provide safe equipment for employee usage, failure to warn petitioner of the dangers of asbestos, failure to monitor the air for asbestos fibers in the work area and failure to appropriately ventilate the work facility.

An unspecified amount is sought for all damages including, but not limited to, all medical expenses, all lost earnings, pain and suffering, mental anguish and all other forms of relief specified by law.

The plaintiff is represented by Spencer R. Doody of Martzell & Bickford.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Michael G. Bagneris.
