Walgreens sued by woman who claims disability after alleged slip and fall on wet floor

GRETNA – A national pharmacy chain is being sued by a St. Rose woman who was allegedly injured in a fall at one of its stores in Kenner.

Juanita Cabrera filed suit against Walgreen Louisiana Co., Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 24. Cabrera claims she was a patron at the Walgreens located at 22 West Esplanade Ave. in Kenner when she slipped and fell on a wet and slippery floor.

The defendant is accused of failing to remove hazards form the area, failing to warn of the hazard, failing to properly inspect the premises, failing to use reasonable and ordinary care to protect patrons, failing to properly maintain the premises, permitting a hazardous condition to exist, permitting a foreseeable danger and hazardous condition, failing to post warning signs, failing to remedy the hazard, creating a hazardous condition, failing to have proper policies in place to avoid risk and failing to follow policies and procedures.

Damages are sought in an amount less than $50,000 for mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering, physical disability, medical expenses and loss of enjoyment of life.

Cabrera is represented by Kenner-based attorney Ivan A. Orihuela.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Hans J. Liljeberg.
