New Orleans Saints and stadium district sued over woman's fall at game

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is suing the New Orleans Saints and the local stadium district for injuries she claims to have received while attending a football game.

Candice Desroches, and husband Bart Desroches, filed suit against the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District, Louisiana Superdome, Spectator Management Group and the New Orleans Louisiana Saints in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 18. Desroches claims that when she was attending a game she slipped on a clear substance and fell to the stadium floor. The plaintiff alleges that the fall resulted in painful and serious physical and mental injuries.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly maintain and warn of the dangerous area, failing to timely inspect and clean up liquids spilled on the floor areas of the Superdome, failing to warn of the dangerous and defective condition of the floor, failing to safely maintain the floor area in a reasonable condition, creating and maintaining a dangerous condition and allowing a dangerous condition to exist.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, permanent damage, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, economic damages and loss of consortium.

Desroches is represented by Gretna-based attorney Pierre F. Gaudin.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.

Case no. 2012-08876.
