GRETNA – An East Baton Rouge woman is suing a local grocer for injuries she claims to have received in a fall on its premises.
Alisa Jackson filed suit against Rouse's Enterprises, LLC and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 5. Jackson claims she was shopping at the Rouse's located at 2701 Airline Hwy. in Metairie when she slipped in a puddle of water and fell to the floor. The plaintiff claims she received severe injuries to her muscle structures and tissues of her body including a broken tailbone and a bulging disc in her back.
The defendant is accused of failing to instruct its employees to inspect and maintain its floors in a clean and safe condition, failing to warn patrons of hazards, failing to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition, failing to use ordinary care in maintenance of the premises, failing to routinely and carefully inspect the business premises and failing to take the necessary precautions to avoid incidents.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental pain and anguish, pain and suffering, loss of function, medical expenses and loss of enjoyment of life.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen J. Windhorst.
