City of Gretna and contractor sued for property damage allegedly due to excessive vibrations

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man is suing a contractor and the city in which he owns property for damages he claims arose from construction and excavation activities adjacent to his property.

Ray L. Gumperi, Sr. filed suit against the City of Gretna, Hamp's Construction, LLC, an unknown subcontractor and their insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 4.

Gumperi claims pile driving and excavations undertaken by Hamp's Construction near his rental property located at 1117 Pery St. in Gretna led to damages at that property. The plaintiff alleges excessive vibrations from the construction work necessitated restoration and repair and resulted in the loss of rental income.

The defendant is accused of engaging in activities that led to damage to the plaintiff's property.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for for property damage.

Gumperi is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Greg A. Cotogno.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Hans J. Liljeberg.

Case no. 719-750.
