NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man is representing himself in a case against his former employer where he is seeking unemployment benefits he was denied under both an initial inquiry and upon appeal.
John Auzenne filed suit against Louisiana State university Medical Center in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 26.
Auzenne claims that he worked for LSU Medical Center for nearly seven years in the Division of Animal Care until he was terminated in July 2012. The plaintiff alleges that after his termination he applied for unemployment benefits through the Louisiana Workforce Commission and was denied, which was upheld by the Louisiana Board of Review upon appeal. Auzenne asserts that he was not terminated from his employment due to misconduct, violation of company policy, unsatisfactory work or as an error or mistake and thus he should be eligible for unemployment benefits.
The defendant is accused of not giving the plaintiff enough opportunity to engage in the hearing determining his eligibility for unemployment benefits.
The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
Case no. 2012-09169.
