NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans area private high school and contractors working therein are being sued by an electrician who was injured in a fall on its property.
Charles Wells filed suit against St. Augustine High School, Mike Biagas of Majic Productions and Cypress Events in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 26.
Wells claims he was working at the high school installing lighting as part of a crew erecting a performance stage when he leaned up against a railing allegedly installed by Cypress that gave way resulting in him falling five feet to the asphalt below. The plaintiff alleges an ambulance was called to the scene of the incident and he received serious injuries in the fall including to his upper ribs, head, hands, toes, chest and a torn tendon and torn ligaments in his right shoulder. Wells asserts that he had to undergo surgery and months of rehabilitation and rest to recover from the fall.
The defendant is accused of not providing a reasonably safe workplace, improperly installing railings and negligible supervision of the entire operation.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, lost wages, loss of earning capacity, physical pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life.
