NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany man is suing the general and subcontractor of a construction project being performed in the dormitory of the City of New Orleans' Youth Study Center for alleged injuries.
Christian S. Hynes filed a lawsuit against J. Star Enterprises Inc. and Crescent Commercial Construction, LLC in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Sept. 12.
The plaintiff claims that while walking down the stairs carrying an empty wooden pallet he stepped on a saw blade which he did not see, the suit claims. Hynes alleges that the defendants left the saw unattended resulting in him slipping and sustaining injuries to his lower back, elbows, shoulders, right knee and back.
The defendant is accused of failing to identify the hazard of leaving a saw blade unattended on the stairs, failing to eliminate the hazard, failing to warn others of the hazard and failing to exercise reasonable care to prevent that condition.
The plaintiff seeks compensation for all damages found reasonable in the premises.
Counsel for the plaintiff is Metairie-based attorney Terrence J. Lestelle.
This case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin, Chief Judge.
Case no. 2012-08700.
