Airline Highway motel sued by man who claims bathroom mirror fell on his head

GRETNA – A St. John the Baptist Parish man is suing a Metairie motel for injuries he claims to have received when a bathroom mirror allegedly fell off a wall in a room he was renting and hit him in the head.

David Vanatta, Jr. filed suit against G&M Hospitality, Inc., Markel Insurance Company and Keystone Motel in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 6. Vanatta claims that he was renting a room at the Keystone Motel located at 8825 Airline Hwy. in Metairie when a mirror attached to the wall fell off and struck him in the head, neck and body. The plaintiff alleges he received injuries in the incident

The defendant is accused of allowing defects to remain in the room and failing to exercise reasonable care.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of life’s pleasures, disabilities, medical expenses and wage loss.

Vanatta is represented by Stephen R. Rue of Kenner-based Stephen Rue & Associates, LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Robert M. Murphy.
