South Claiborne Avenue Home Depot sued after display board allegedly injures customer

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman is suing a local Home Depot claiming one of the store's display boards fell and struck her in several places causing her to sustain severe bodily injuries.

Candace R. LeBlanc filed a lawsuit against Home Depot USA Inc. in the Orleans Parish Central District Court. LeBlanc alleges that while walking down an aisle in the defendant’s store, a wooden display board containing cabinet knobs fell striking her on her head, neck and shoulders.

The defendant is accused of failure to properly maintain and repair its premises, failure to properly secure the wooden display board and failure to warn patrons.

The plaintiff is seeking compensation for all medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life, loss earnings and pain and suffering.

The plaintiff is representing herself.

This case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.

Case no. 2012-10291.
