GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish-based property holding company is suing a tenant for allegedly stealing money and equipment.
Continental Plaza Partnership, LLP filed suit against Manual Armando Manzur in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 20. Continental Plaza Partnership, LLP claims that Manzur entered into an agreement with them for construction and leasing of space at their shopping center located at 5008 W. Esplanade Ave. in Jefferson. The plaintiff alleges that it loaned $38,000 to the defendant for equipment for air conditioning and heat during a construction phase of the agreement. Continental Plaza Partnership, LLP asserts that Manzur allegedly stole the money for personal use and admitted to numerous witnesses that he had done so. The plaintiff also asserts that it believes the defendant misappropriated other amounts from the project for personal use. When approached by the plaintiff about the alleged theft the plaintiff claims that Manzur admitted to taking the money and said he would repay it, the lawsuit claims.
The defendant is accused of suit on contract, fraud and theft.
Damages in the amount of $37,000 is sought for the air conditioning work, supplies and equipment allegedly stolen by Manzur in addition to sums allegedly misappropriated by him in the amount of $200,000.
