GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man is suing the local Sheriff's Office after a deputy allegedly ran into his vehicle while on patrol.
John Mosbey, Jr. filed suit against Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and Dale Bruce in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 20. Mosbey claims that he was slowing down to turn while driving on Transcontinental Avenue in Metairie when Deputy Bruce in his police-issued vehicle ran into the rear of his vehicle. The plaintiff alleges that he received severe and disabling injuries in the incident.
The defendant is accused of failing to keep his vehicle under control, failing to see what should have been seen, failing to avoid a collision and failing to yield the right-of-way.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life, lost wages, loss of earning capacity and property damage.
Mosbey is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Darryl M. Breaux.
The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
