Jefferson Parish woman sues clinic after parking lot fall

NEW ORLEANS –  A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a cardiology clinic after falling in its parking lot.

Lana Pierre flied suit against Chapital Cardiology Clinic, Janus Medical Group Inc. and their insurers in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov.14. The plaintiff claims that she fell while leaving her appointment at the cardiology clinic on Jan. 20, 2012. Pierre allegedly tripped on uneven, cracked cement in the driveway of the clinic and as a result suffered injuries to both her body and mind.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to warn of dangerous conditions that existed on the premises, for failing to keep the premises properly maintained, for creating a trap, for improper maintenance and because the defendant knew or should have known of the hazardous conditions in the parking lot.

An unspecified amount of damages is sought for past, present and future pain and suffering, for past, present and future emotional and mental anguish, for lost wages, for past, present and future medical expenses and for loss of enjoyment of life.

Pierre is represented by John W. Redman and Edward L. Moreno of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
