GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish attorney is suing a Baton Rouge car dealer over allegedly false claims about the condition of a vehicle he bought.
William R. Seay III filed suit against All-Star Motors of Baton Rouge, LLC, All-Star Toyota of Baton Rouge, Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc., Gulf States Toyota, Inc. and Toyota Motor Corporation in the 24th Judicial District Court.
Seay claims he bought a “certified” used car from All-Star Motors of Baton Rouge that allegedly had received a 160-point inspection and was covered under the Toyota Certified Used Vehicle Program. The plaintiff alleges that the defendants falsely represented that the vehicle was in good working condition.
Seay asserts that after purchasing the vehicle he found the front end had been previously damaged in a serious accident and had not been properly repaired. Seay alleges that he received information about the damage when he took the vehicle to a different Toyota dealer. After finding out about the previous damage the plaintiff claims he contacted the defendants and asked for a refund on the sale or replacement of the vehicle, which the defendant did not grant.
Damages in the amount of $3,909.56 are sought to properly repair the vehicle in addition to costs.
Seay is representing himself as an associate of Metairie-based firm Hailey, McNamara, Hall, Larmann & Papale, LLP.
The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Patrick J. McCabe.
