GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local property holding company for injuries she claims to have received in a trip and fall in a parking garage.
Marie Hattier filed suit against Wilshire Insurance Company, Stewart Development Inc. and an unknown employee in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 5. Hattier claims she was exiting the parking garage at Heritage Plaza located at 111 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie when an unknown security employee lowered a security post into the walkway which she tripped over and fell to the ground.
The defendant is accused of failing to use ordinary care and due diligence, failing to correct an unsafe condition, failing to protect the plaintiff, failing to exercise reasonable care to protect the plaintiff, failing to warn the plaintiff of the hazard, failing to have sufficient personnel and equipment to properly inspect and maintain the walking area, failing to warn the plaintiff of the tripping hazard, failing to sufficiently hire and train employees and negligently failing to lower the security post.
Damages not to exceed $75,000 are sought for pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, medical expenses and future economic income and earning potential.
