GRETNA – A St. Charles Parish woman is suing a local fast food eatery for injuries she claims to have received in a fall on its premises.

Debra S. Cadis filed suit against Max Foods Management Inc., McDonald’s Restaurants of Louisiana Inc. and Scottsdale Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 4. Cadis claims she was visiting the McDonald’s at 1151 S. Clearview Parkway in Jefferson when she slipped in water on a recently mopped floor as she exited the restroom. The plaintiff alleges she was not aware while she was in the restroom that the floor outside the door had been mopped and was wet, presenting a hazard.

The defendant is accused of failing to hire competent and qualified personnel to monitor the floor of the restaurant, failing to properly maintain the restaurant in a safe and proper condition, failing to exercise reasonable care to keep premises free of hazards, failing to keep premises in reasonably safe condition and failing to hire competent employees who would not create dangerous and defective conditions.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental anguish, inconvenience, humiliation, frustration, loss or restriction of activity, aggravation of pre-existing medical conditions, medical expenses, lost wages and loss of earning capacity.

Cadis is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Ford T. Hardy.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.

Case no. 722-609.
