Hidden Lake Apartments owner sued over tenant's slip and fall

NEW ORLEANS – The owners of a local apartment complex are being sued after a tenant allegedly sustained injuries on the premises.

Darrell Turner filed a lawsuit against Hidden Lake LLC of AL and Liberty Surplus Insurance Corporation in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Jan. 14.

Turner claims that he slipped and fell on water that was leaking from the window air conditioning unit, owned and under the care, custody and control of defendants, and sustained serious injuries.

The defendant is accused of failure to properly maintain premises, placing a tenant in a perilous situation by lack of inspection, repair and maintenance and creation of a known defective condition.

Turner is seeking compensation for all damages including, but not limited to, medical expenses and physical pain and suffering and mental pain and suffering.

Counsel for the plaintiff is Lillie E. Joyce of the New Orleans-based Law Offices of W.A. "Chip" Forstall.

This case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
