GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local outlet of a national retailer for injuries she claims to have received in a fall.
Rose Ker filed suit against Kmart Corporation of America and Kmart in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 24.
Ker claims she was shopping at the Kmart located at 2940 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie when she slipped and fell in water coming from store equipment.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises in a safe manner, failing to keep floors safe and free from water, failing to keep equipment in good and safe working order and allowing water or other substances to accumulate on the floor due to defective equipment.
Damages not exceeding $75,000 are sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses and lost wages.
Ker is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Ryan J. Hughes.
The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Carolyn W. Gill-Jefferson.
