Zea’s and Clearview Mall sued by woman allegedly hurt after stepping in light fixture

NEW ORLEANS – An New Orleans woman is suing a local mall and one of its tenants for damages she allegedly received in a fall.

Carolyn Smith filed a lawsuit against Taste Buds Management, LLC d/b/a Zea’s Restaurant and Richard Clearview, LLC d/b/a Clearview Mall in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Jan. 22.

Smith claims that while shopping at the mall she stepped onto an in-ground light fixture near Zea's Restaurant. She claims it had no collar to separate it from the surrounding sidewalk which caused her to fall to the concrete.

The defendant is accused of failing to warn of an unreasonably dangerous condition on the premises and allowing a dangerous condition on the premises.

An unspecified amount is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses and loss wages.

This case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
