GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing the City of Kenner for injuries she allegedly received after she fell into an open pipe while walking her dog.

Cherice Denise McDonald filed suit against City of Kenner in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 4.

McDonald claims she was walking her dog on Albany Sreet in Kenner when she fell in a hole created by an open pipe that was unsecured and not visible. The plaintiff alleges she suffered injuries to her lower back, left arm and left leg.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises in a safe condition, failing to maintain and or install sidewalks, failing to warn and violation of state statutes.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental anguish and distress, physical pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses.

McDonald is represented by Robert J. Caluda of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.

Case no. 723-567.
